National e-Governance Division, an agency of DeitY,  in association with NSS has conducted awareness workshops on Digital India in 13 universities . Spread across 13 States in the country , these workshops were conducted on 25th Feb 2016 and  attended by more than 200 students in each workshop, university faculty and local dignitaries.

The main objectives of these workshops is to inform and educate university students about Digital India program and its major initiatives and to build the capacities of NSS volunteers as Digital India volunteers and Brand Ambassadors.

During the workshop, students and other participants were informed about the vision, key areas and major projects undertaken by the government. Students were also educated about the processes and benefits of Digital Locker, national scholarship portal, mygov, e - swachh bharat etc. A number of educational and informational videos were screened during these workshops in 13 languages. Skits were Also played by the university students on Digital India, Digital Locker & Skill Development and the best performing team in each university was awarded a trophy.

The enthusiasm of students and faculty was very high and a large number of them volunteered to work for Digital India program. NeGD will start this registration of volunteers from coming Monday. The students also pledged to take the message of Digital India to their respective colleges and localities.

Six more workshops are scheduled to be held on 2nd and 3rd March, largely in NE states.

NeGD is very  excited with the response of these workshops. The workshops have been organized under the Awareness and Communication project.  These workshops are landmark in connecting the university youth with Digital India program, so that a large part of population, across the country can understand and avail the benefits and services of Digital India.

NeGD in association with NSS, States (SeMTs), CSC-SPV  is willing to take this initiative further with the plan to conduct more workshops, with greater usage of digital tools and technologies.
