Besides, the number of merchants accepting digital payments modes has increased to over 10 million in a short span of two to three years.

After announcing its decision to waive all charges on fund transfer through RTGS and NEFT systems from July 1, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had also asked banks to pass on the benefits to customers from the same day.The real-time gross settlement (RTGS) system is meant for large-value instantaneous fund transfers, while the national electronic funds transfer (NEFT) system is used for fund transfers of up to Rs 2 lakh.

Tracking passport application status becomes easier: Now check progress with UMANG app, here’s how to download
FINANCIALEXPRESS FEB-2019 racking the status of your passport application has become easier now with the integration of passport tracking and related services with the UMANG application. The move is in the direction of streamlining public services through the digital India mission of the government. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad shared information via Twitter that one can track passport status and other services of Passport Seva using UMANF app. He added that the app offers 334 services from 67 departments in 17 states of the country.
DNA FEB-2019 The government is likely to spend Rs 10,000 crore in setting up one lakh digital villages across the country in the next five years.
Common Service Centers (CSCs), under the Ministry of IT and Electronics, is in the process of setting up 700 digital villages, or digi gaons as they are called and expected to be completed by March this year, CSC e governance services Ltd CEO Dinesh Tyagi told DNA Money.
The announcement of setting up one lakh digital villages was made during the Interim Budget last week and is apart from the 700 already in the making.

“We have this programme called DigiYatra, which hopefully will be introduced in a few months itself,” Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister for Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation said at the sidelines of GJEPC 44th Gem & Jewellery Awards in Mumbai on Saturday night. “(Under this) the moment you will enter the airport, your images will be captured and then you will be able to go through the full lifecycle of your travel in a seamless manner,” the minister said.

Investors beware! Stockbrokers can’t take cash, bank deposits from clients as SEBI pushes ‘Digital India’

Besides, stockbrokers are not permitted to receive cash deposits in their bank accounts from clients. “In view of the various modes of payment through electronic means available today, it is directed that stockbrokers shall not accept cash from their clients either directly or by way of cash deposit to the bank account of a stockbroker,” the regulator said in a circular.

MONEYCONTROL JUL-2018 Transactions through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) hit a new milestone in June, with the number of transactions on the platform breaching the 200-million mark for the first time since its inception.
Incidentally, the value of money that changed hands in 243.37 million UPI transactions in June — totalling Rs 40,834.03 crore — was also the highest in its history.

Existing paper vouchers shall not be valid beyond December 31, 2017. It also said that companies that are issuing meal vouchers under B2B arrangements in paper voucher form will now have to issue them in electronic form, including cards, and the maximum value in these PPIs cannot exceed Rs 1,00,000.
